The Importance of Process Praise

We all want to be better.

We want to be better parents, better kids, better spouses, better employees and better business owners. For some of us that means that we want to improve the things outside of us – we want more money, a nicer car and home, and we want to look “beautiful.” For others, it means improving the things within us – cultivating gratitude practices, learning a new skill or taking care of our bodies because of how it feels and not how it looks.

I have been focusing on being a better parent, and no offense to my parents, I want to be a better parent than my parents. Not that they were bad parents, but rather because I believe that every generation should try to be better.

I’ve wanted to be a mother for about 30 years. So I have always thought about how I would like to parent. Now that I have a daughter I need to start putting my money where my mouth is.

Why "Good Job" undermines your child's self-confidence and why externalization is critical

How to schedule online with Acusimple

Gone are the days of walk-in only appointments at Reverie Acupuncture! Hooray!

Don’t get me wrong – I love that I’m able to offer that flexibility going forward for patients who just need to drop in. But being able to guarantee patients an appointment time is something I’ve been wanting for months.

For those of you on the newsletter list, you know that online scheduling just went live recently. I have chosen a practice management software called Acusimple. Acusimple will allow you to view documents relating to your treatment online, message me on a HIPAA compliant and encrypted system, and book online. It’s specifically designed for acupuncturists and their patients and in the past couple weeks of learning the system I’ve been very pleased.

But with any new change comes confusion and we have already hit a couple of snags with the process. With so many online booking programs available, it can be hard to keep track of what to do where. I will lay out a step by step process to clear up any confusion about booking.

Being outside stimulates both creativity and productivity. You’ll feel reinvigorated and ready to tackle the next thing on your to-do list.

Walking is great exercise. It’s a perfect starting point for moms on the mend. When you’re ready, change up your stroll with a few exercises to make it more challenging.

Four surprising signs of teething

Four surprising signs of teething

Some of us know what to expect when kids are teething. Some of us don’t.

My daughter is my first child so everything that we go through together, we’re all doing for the first time.

Even though I got my master’s in Oriental Medicine and have worked in holistic medicine for the better part of a decade, 99% of parenting is a mystery to me.

For instance, teething. Teething is just baby teeth cutting through the gums, right? It’s painful, it’s a milestone, but that’s it. I mean, I knew that teething was determined by the strength of kidney qi because the kidneys govern both bone and development. But beyond that, I knew no other symptoms of teething besides “pain”.
